Matthew 16:15-16
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus asked many this question. He was aware he’d be leaving the face of the earth within time; so he just wanted to make sure everyone understood who he was. Six days after this conversation with Peter a miracle occurred. Jesus took Peter, James, and John on a high mountain. There, he was transfigured before their eyes. “His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light” (Matthew 17:2). Then, a bright cloud hovered over them and a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved son, with whom I am well-pleased; hear him!” (Matthew 17:5)
